Healing Black and Brown Body Trauma with the Eight Extraordinary Acupuncture Channels
It all began a few years at the Student Acupuncture Clinic at my College in the United States. I started a free acupuncture program for women and children of color at the height of COVID and racial tension in the U.S. I started a Go Fund Me, and within two weeks I raised several thousand dollars. I help many women from the edge of depression, stress, and anxiety. My project manager husband encouraged me to turn the free treatments into a pilot, which I did. The results collected were amazing.
The Black Soma Pilot is a more detailed look at one of these ancient Channels Systems I used with the women - the Eight Extraordinary Channels. This Channel System holds our inter-generational and ancestral traumas, and gifts. This research focuses on the power of these channels to heal black and brown racialized, colonized and genocide survivor bodied women. The research will form part of the book I am currently writing, The Stories in the Blood: Alchemy of Healing the Racialized Trauma Body
HOW TO BOOK YOUR PARTICIPANT APPOINTMENT
START TIME: SECOND WEEK OF FEBRUARY
WHY WERE YOU ALLOCATED TO GROUP OR INDIVIDUAL ACUPUNCTURE SESSION
The research pilot will look at how the Eight Extraordinary treatment works for women of color as a individual and group therapy. Whichever treatment you receive, will be in a safe, caring, and effective environment.
WHERE WILL THE TREATMENTS OCCUR
All treatments will take place at the Black Soma Kigali Acupuncture and Counseling Clinic, KG 636 Street, Gate number 6 (opposite Ejo Heza hospital)
DATE AND START TIME OF PILOT
Pilot begins February 19th for Individual treatments, and February 23rd @ 10 to 1 PM for Group treatments. Pilot will be for 5 weeks.
HOW TO BOOK YOUR INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP APPOINTMENT
Individual: If you were allocated to individual therapy please visit the calendar below and book a Wednesday slot. Fill in all electronic paperwork and hit pay latter button.
Group: If you were allocated to group therapy, please visit the calendar below and book a Sunday slot. Fill in all electronic paperwork and hit pay latter. PLEASE KNOW - Sunday group will start at 10 am - 12.30 Noon time. You are filling in a Sunday Slot time, as this allows you to access the electronic paperwork.
